Its name is Umbral, but its effect is almost like a Malicevorous card. Umbral itself is rank 4 centered, and rank 2 is inferior to rank 4 in both quality and quantity, so it's not worth dealing with.
Judging from his success in anime, it seemed like he existed only for Umbral to release 96. Similar to BK's Vantage.
It's an expansion effect that immediately connects to rank 2 and links, but it hurts that Normal Summon is impossible. Even in Malicevorous, there are many cards that want to use the summoning right.
I think it's a card that can't be said to be easy to use.

Although it has the name of "Umbral", it is a difficult card to use because it cannot be used for Xyz Summoning with [Umbral] unless it has a DEF of 0 and 《Umbral Horror Will o' the Wisp》or a card with the same name. The limitation of not being able to Normal Summon is also a bit annoying. On the other hand, it works well with the “Malicevorous” monsters that are unified by his Level 2 Fiends. If "Spoon" is already in play, you can expect further developments.

Fiends below level 4 can Normal Summon,
In the end, this card is the same as adding Level 2 and doing a Special Summon.

Umbral is not without synergies. If you unform with this guy and make a suicide attack, you can get 2 Will-O-Wisps and get Soul Marionette, so there is a possibility that you can make a "Cure Burn Umbral". However, I don't understand why the offense and defense is 200.

If you SS this card and his Level 2 Fiend, you can summon a Rank 2 Xyz with 2 materials. However, it is frustrating that there is no synergy with his other Umbral while having the name of Umbral. Rather than Umbral, it might be better to sync with 《Dark Resonator》or his Fabled as his Fiend support.

Thanks for pointing out, it was a hand card activation...
It's just one card missing for Soul Marionette, and the other cards in Umbral don't match the level...
It might be better to see him as a support card for Fiend as a whole rather than Umbral, as it's hard to get Umbral's unique Ability 0 support.
However, it's a sad place that I can't do Normal Summon after all. I could have done something around Infernity if I hadn't used my summoning rights...
